A tree of life on Market Street.
Founded in the heart of Loughborough in 2000, Baobab Cafe was created with one simple idea — to build a welcoming space where everyone could enjoy great food, great coffee, and feel genuinely looked after.
Over the years, Baobab has become a much-loved part of the local community, known for its relaxed atmosphere, homemade food, speciality coffee, and inclusive menu. From students grabbing brunch between lectures to families meeting for lunch and locals stopping in for coffee and cake, the café has always been built around bringing people together.
What makes Baobab truly different is its commitment to catering for everyone. With the owner personally understanding the challenges of coeliac disease, creating safe, high-quality gluten-free options has always been a core part of the café's philosophy. Alongside vegan, vegetarian, and flexible menu choices, the goal has always been simple: nobody should feel limited when eating out.
Every dish is freshly prepared with care, whether it's a healthy brunch, homemade cake, locally roasted coffee, or one of the café's customer favourites. Combined with a friendly team, dog-friendly atmosphere, and welcoming environment, Baobab has grown into one of Loughborough's favourite independent cafés.
More than two decades later, we're still proud to serve the community that has supported us from the very beginning.
